The Beginning of the Interchangeable Purse

On the way home from work in the fall of 2004 Michelle Romero did something most women have done - she spilled on her favorite handbag. Frustrated by the thought of hunting for a replacement then transferring all the contents, she wished there was a way to just change the outside of the bag. The idea immediately popped into her mind to create a bag with changeable covers. Not to be deterred by her lack of sewing skills, Michelle grabbed her super glue and scrap fabric, took apart the stained bag, and made the very first prototype. With her rough creation in hand, Michelle set out on a mission to bring to life the Miche bag.
Michelle showed the prototype to her friend, Annette Cavaness, who immediately loved the idea. Annette used her knowledge as an accessories buyer to work with Michelle on developing a business plan and perfecting the product. The combination of each of their unique strengths and experiences made it clear that the two were destined to be business partners. In April 2005 Michelle and Annette started the process and formed Miche Bag, LLC.. Together they met with a patent lawyer and a sourcing agent, and soon the final product became a reality.
Michelle and Annette both felt that the name would be a very important part of the product. After brainstorming many ideas the name �Miche� (pronounced, "MEE-chee") was suggested after the nick name Michelle�s mother-in-law gave her. Naturally, the name for the many changeable covers became �Chelle� playing on the aspect of the cover being a �shell� for the bag as well as finishing the name Michelle.
The first samples were tested personally by Michelle and Annette. They loved changing the bag each day to match their outfits without the hassle of changing the contents from purse. They also love the convenience the Shells provide by stacking 20 Shells in the space of what two small handbags would use. It quickly created excitement among family and friends, who continue to provide a wide variety of ideas for Shells they would love to have. Many new products and ideas are being developed with the endless possibilities of the Miche Bag. And to think, it all started with a spill!

Back in October Michelle Romero, founder and inventor of Miche Bag, paid a visit to Fox 2 Studio in Detroit. On Wednesday, October 28, 2009 she aired on FOX 2 News Morning with a demonstration and to introduce a few new looks.

Great Miche Tip!

When giving a Miche Bag shell as a gift, use a silver pen and sign the inside! This is a great idea for an individual or group gift-giving. A very nice lady shared this great idea with me...if I remember correctly her and her friends did that for their friend that was moving away. What a great way to turn a Miche Shell into a keepsake gift as well.

The Miche Jade bag is on the retiring list..which means that once our supply runs out it will no longer be available. It also happens to be on a "favorite" list of one of my hostesses and it's easy to see why.

A Great Day at The Funky Frog!

I had a great day yesterday at the Funky Frog Children's Resale (New and Used) in downtown Rochester. I had the opportunity to meet some very nice people who came in to shop, warm up, or check out my Miche Bag display. The response was terrific and I also sold a couple of Hope shells of which profits go towards cancer research..yay!

Today's Featured Bag - Jayma

Today's featured bag is the Jayma. I carried this bag around town yesterdat and I can't even tell you how many compliments I received. The Jayma is also one of my personal favorites. With the faux-giraffe print and the deep red at the base..this Miche shell is fun and classic at the same time. I am also a huge fan of the Big Bag version - the Lexi.

Welcome to My Miche blog. On My Miche blog I will be posting photos and reviews of all current Miche bag shells and accesssories as well as new releases. I am VERY happy to announce that I am now an independent sales rep. for Miche Bag. If you have heard of Miche you already know what all the hype is about. They are stylish, affordable AND practical. And did I say stylish? Affordability and practicality is great but with out style there's nothing.
When I first heard of the purses from my mother-in-law out in Utah I was kind of skeptical. I visited the website and I kind went "hmmm...I guess they are kind of cool". Honestly, I really didn't think it would be my "bag" (thanks Jennifer...no pun intended). After that I kind of dismissed the idea of becoming a sales rep. Still curious though I began to ask friends and aquaintences of they had heard of them and some seemed to know what I was talking about and the ones who had not seemed to think it was a fantastic concept. So....after lunch with a friend one day we visited a store in downtown Rochester that carries the Miche bag and I was VERY pleasantly surprised at the style and quality. Needless to say, the very next day I visited Miche of Michigan and signed on.
